The Department of Health (DoH) has requested a list of independent community pharmacies that would like to employ a Community Service Pharmacist (CSP) in 2019. The scope of practice of the CSP while working in an assigned community pharmacy will be that of a “qualified” pharmacist. They may not practice as a pharmacist outside of the designated pharmacy.

Priority will be given to rural and previously under-serviced communities and where Centralised Chronic Medicine Dispensing and Distribution (CCMDD) Pick up Points (PuPs) are located.

To participate in this initiative, please forward your details to CSPs that have successfully been seconded to a community pharmacy will receive a letter from the NDoH informing the CSP of the name of the pharmacy and a brief overview of the terms of the secondment, a few key conditions are listed for your information. The CSP will enter into a contract with the relevant pharmacy but the conditions of service will be similar to that of the Public Service. The CSPs remuneration will be on a cost to employer bases (all-inclusive salary package) of R407 811 per annum. The CSP may provide for his/her own contributions to a medical aid and pension as this will not be deducted automatically from your monthly salary.
